https://www.academia.edu/3279673/_2013_Work_Capitalism._Economics._Resistance_Book_Review_
“Even if you don’t know what capitalism or wage slavery is, you know oppression because yo know the frustration, alienation and drudgery of work”
The capitalists, the exploited, and the excluded
- Capitalists - profit from other’s labour - direct the way capital is created, owned and managed
- Exploited - activity turns a profit for others - all manner of labourers, office workers and students to service workers and educators
- Excluded - “left out of the equation and have to survive on the fringes of the economy” - lack of interaction in the regulated economy of wage slavery - sex workers, soldiers, illegal theft and drug sales, waged workers at bottom of hierarchy “undocumented” workers, prisons workers
CrimethInc on The Sex Industry
- sex workers are “demanding payment upfront for things everyone else sells in a roundabout fashion”
- sex work as service work
- flow of sex work profits beyond the individual street workers, towards sexualized sale of hollywood products, commercial pornography, etc
- Intersectional theory - sale of sex interaction w/ gender construction and physical sexing
